S.S La Venezia

The River Countess underwent a complete design renovation in 2020, debuting as the S.S. La Venezia to bring guests an enhanced luxury experience inspired by Northern Italy. The redesign of the ship drew influence from the fine Fortuny fabrics displayed prominently onboard. Murano glass, gilded accents, and artistic etched elements pay homage to popular Venetian aesthetics of the early 20th century, creating an onboard atmosphere that is at once elegant and nostalgic.

Launched in 2003 and remodelled in 2020 as la Venezia  specifically to cruise the Venice Lagoon; carrying upto 126 passengers in 63 staterooms. The boat is 110 metres long by 11.4 metres wide and has 3 decks plus an open air top deck. The boat features Ristorante Rialto, Hari’s Bar and Lounge, the Panini Bar, La Cantinetta, a fitness centre and the Serenity Spa.

With your early morning arrival at Doge’s Palace, you’ll be able to marvel at the estate in total peace. Wander through a Venetian neighbourhood and experience daily life in an authentic Venetian residential quarter. Later in the evening, cap the day off with a private once-in-a-lifetime experience at an after-hours lighting ceremony inside St. Mark’s Basilica without the crowds.

Venice

History, architecture, dining, romance and pure wander lust through the cobbled streets and by the canals is what Venice is all about. Top souvenirs would be Venetian Glass (also known as Murano Glass) or the famous and flamboyant masks. Standing in the middle of the magnificent piazza San Marco is an experience in itself -once described by: Napoleon as the 'drawing room of Europe'.

St Mark's Basilica ,Doge's Palace and the clock tower built between 1496 and 1506 - are the city's main attractions. St. Mark's Basilica, built in the eleventh century, is the most famous and most recognizable of all the churches in the city of Venice. Its design is considered one of the best examples of Byzantine architecture in the world, known for its opulent design and gilded interior mosaics, and nicknamed "Church of Gold".

The magnificent Doge's Palace is one of the most important buildings in Venice; it was the centre of power, from where the Venetian Republic was ruled. No trip to Venice would be complete without a punt down one of the city's picturesque waterways in an iconic gondola.

Start your morning in one of two of the Veneto region’s UNESCO World Heritage cities, Vicenza or Padua. In the afternoon, you'll reboard the ship for scenic sailing across the lagoon as we head towards Mazzorbo and Burano. In the evening, you may wish to take your free time to stroll into town to appreciate this charming island when most of the tourists have left for the evening. Burano’s brightly painted fishermen’s cottages are an artist’s dream —hot pink, chartreuse, orange, lemon yellow, and more.
A special Captain’s Welcome Reception and Dinner will be prepared for you this evening.

Its spiritual centerpiece is the Basilica of Saint Anthony, renowned for its mix of Romanesque, Gothic and Byzantine styles and treasured artworks.

Visitors also love Prato della Valle, one of Europe’s largest squares, encircled by statues and canals. Padua lies approximately 40 km from Venice (about 25 miles), making it an easy day trip by car or train.

Spend the day exploring the northern lagoon of Venice and its captivating islands. Start with a visit to Torcello's famous basilica with an art historian, then stroll through the agricultural island of Mazzorbo and the rainbow-hued island of Burano during your free time after lunch.
